Dorsal Veins (Deep and Superficial)

Tags:

A pair of large veins that run along the top (dorsal) side of the penis.

The superficial dorsal vein drains the skin of the penis. It runs through the subcutaneous tissue and is cut with the foreskin during circumcision.

The deep dorsal vein receives blood from the glans penis and the corpora cavernosa penis. It lies beneath the deep fascia of the penis and is not affected by circumcision.
